Khammam, May 9, 2025: Conducting simultaneous elections across the country could reduce national expenditure by 2% of GDP, thereby freeing up resources for public welfare and poverty alleviation, said Medak MP Madhavaneni Raghunandan Rao. Speaking at an awareness session on ‘One Nation, One Election’ organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Khammam district unit at Hotel Konark, Rao emphasized the economic and administrative benefits of the initiative.
The event, chaired by BJP district president Nelluri Koteswara Rao, saw Raghunandan Rao as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he dismissed criticisms from opposition parties as “laughable,” accusing them of creating confusion among the public with hypothetical scenarios like government collapses or elected representatives’ deaths. He urged citizens to discern the reality behind such claims and recognize the practical advantages of synchronized elections.
Rao took a sharp jab at the Congress, alleging it promotes non-violence rhetorically while adopting dictatorial tactics. He claimed the Left parties have been “politically buried” by the people of India, pointing out their limited presence in Telangana, where they have been reduced to a single seat. “The only party moving forward on the right path is the BJP,” he asserted, predicting that the party’s flag would soon fly high across Telangana.
Commenting on national security, Rao referenced the recent ‘Operation Sindoor’ as evidence of the central government’s resolve to counter terrorism. He criticized the Telangana government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, stating that true support for national interests would involve expelling Pakistan and Bangladesh nationals illegally residing in the state and cracking down on their supporters in madrasas.
Rao further highlighted India’s commitment to non-violence, rooted in the principle of Ahimsa Paramo Dharma (non-violence is the supreme duty). However, he warned that the country would not remain passive if provoked by neighboring nations, citing Operation Sindoor as a testament to India’s strength. He lauded the Indian Army, particularly two women officers who led the operation, for dismantling nine terrorist bases in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, in response to attacks targeting women’s symbols like sindoor.
The event was attended by prominent BJP leaders, including Devaki Vasudeva Rao, Sanne Uday Pratap, Dongala Satyanarayana, Pullarao Yadav, Thakkellapalli Narender Rao, Dr. Sheelam Paparao, Dr. Gongura Venkateswara Rao, Nunna Ravikumar, Perumallapalli Vijayaraju, and Manda Saraswati, among others.
The session underscored the BJP’s push for simultaneous elections, aligning with its long-standing slogan of ‘One Nation, One Election,’ while reinforcing its narrative of economic prudence, national security, and political dominance in Telangana.
