VIJAYAWADA — The NTR District Collector has called for calm and dismissed circulating social media rumors of an imminent flood threat to Vijayawada from the Budameru stream.
In a professional video statement, the Collector directly addressed the public in Telugu, clarifying the current situation and the administration’s readiness. He confirmed that the Budameru stream’s flow and its diversion canal are under continuous and close monitoring.
“I urge the public not to be misled by false information regarding the Budameru floods,” the Collector stated. He clarified that any water accumulation in the city is a result of localized rainfall, not a breach of the stream. He specifically noted that the gates at the Velagaleru regulator remain closed, ensuring the stream’s water continues its natural course without impacting urban areas.

Should a situation arise requiring the release of water, a 24-hour advance warning would be issued, and all affected residents would be safely relocated before any action is taken.
