New Delhi: The Supreme Court has dismissed the anticipatory bail petition filed by Muppa Suresh Babu, the prime accused in the murder of Ongole TDP leader Veeraiah Chowdary.
A bench comprising Justice B.R. Gavai (Bindaal?) and Justice Manmohan heard the matter and ruled that the petitioner was not entitled to anticipatory bail, citing evidence such as money transactions and phone call records linking him to the case.
Police have so far arrested nine individuals in connection with the murder, while Suresh Babu has been absconding, according to earlier police statements.
The petitioner’s counsel argued that other accused in the case had already been granted regular bail. However, the bench directed the petitioner to seek relief from the lower court and made it clear that his plea for anticipatory bail could not be entertained at this stage.
With this, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition.
