In a charged political address during the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu new state president ceremony for Nayanar Nagendran, BJP National Co-In-Charge for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Sri Sudhakar Reddy delivered a passionate call to action, reaffirming the party’s alliance with the AIADMK and launching a scathing attack on the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu.

Addressing party workers and supporters, Reddy likened the 2026 assembly elections to the Kurukshetra battle from the Mahabharata, positioning the BJP-led alliance as a force of Dharma (righteousness) and branding the DMK as a symbol of corruption and lawlessness.

“DMK is a Ravana Katchi, a Kata Panchayat Katchi, a Settlement Katchi. But our Katchi is a Dharma Katchi, a Sevaya Katchi,” he said, invoking mythological and spiritual imagery to underline his message.

He praised Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the “Abhinava Sardar Patel” and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership as that of a global statesman. Reddy also expressed full confidence in the newly appointed BJP Tamil Nadu president, Nayanar Nagendran, while acknowledging the contributions of former state president K. Annamalai.

“Together, Tamarai and ADMK will achieve Aachi Nichayam (certain victory),” he stated, emphasizing the strength of the NDA alliance in the state.

Reddy used the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti to draw parallels between the BJP leaders and characters from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. He described Nagendran as Rama-like, and Annamalai as Lakshmana, calling upon Lord Hanuman to bless the party’s efforts toward victory in 2026.

In a sharp critique of the DMK, Reddy demanded the resignation of a controversial minister, Panmuri, for allegedly derogatory remarks about women, calling it an insult to Tamil Nadu’s women. “If you believe in Ambedkar’s Constitution, you must remove him immediately,” he said, directing his message to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

He also took aim at the DMK’s past alliance with the BJP, challenging DMK MP Kanimozhi’s criticism of the current ADMK-BJP tie-up. “Ask your father how he aligned with Vajpayee,” Reddy quipped.

Reiterating BJP’s commitment to development and service, Reddy called on party cadres to intensify grassroots work:

“Go to the booth, take the oath, do the seva. Then only will Aachi Nichayam be possible,” he declared.

The speech concluded with a rallying appeal for unity and hard work within the alliance, expressing confidence that the people of Tamil Nadu will usher in a new era of governance under the NDA in 2026.

Annamalai asserted that Tamil Nadu would not lose any constituencies on a pro-rata basis and reiterated that the BJP would abstain from the all-party meeting due to an unclear agenda. He dismissed concerns regarding the delimitation exercise as baseless propaganda, emphasizing that Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Prime Minister had clearly assured that the state would not lose any constituencies.  

Regarding the ongoing fishermen’s dispute, Annamalai affirmed that the BJP-led central government would take decisive action. He noted that following the formation of a new government in Sri Lanka, the country had intensified surveillance and imposed stricter bail conditions on fishermen. He announced plans to meet with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, accompanied by fishermen leaders from coastal regions, to advocate for a humanitarian resolution with the Sri Lankan authorities.  

Annamalai also highlighted the issue of smugglers disguising themselves as fishermen, stating that anti-social elements were involved in illicit activities. He mentioned that Sri Lankan authorities had clarified that there was no intentional firing at Indian fishermen but rather an accidental discharge of a weapon. He further recalled that the last joint working group meeting on the matter was held in 2020 and urged the Sri Lankan President to reconvene discussions.  

Responding to former AIADMK minister D. Jayakumar’s claim that Annamalai had studied under a two-language system, he clarified that his school offered three languages and that he had chosen Tamil as it was his mother tongue. He emphasized that the National Education Policy enables students to learn additional languages, thereby enhancing their educational opportunities.
